The Star Sign of Capricorn & Typical Capricorn Traits

Capricorns are known for their hard work and materialistic tendencies, but they are much more than that.

Capricorn The Star Sign

Capricorn (the sign for individuals born between December 22 and January 20) is located in the zodiac's tenth segment, at 270° and 300°. Claudius Ptolemais, a Greek astronomer and mathematician, identified this sign as feminine, with Saturn as its ruling planet. Furthermore, Mars is exalted in Capricorn, which means it thrives when it enters this sensible sign. Mars symbolizes vitality, fury, and energy, whereas Saturn represents strength and reason. Capricorn, like Virgo and Taurus, is an earth sign that represents stability and groundedness. It is also one of the cardinal signs, regarded as the most decisive, innovative, and dynamic.

This zodiac is based on the relatively harmless constellation Capricornus, which is one of the oldest known to humans. The Capricorn constellation is commonly known as the "goat-fish," a monster with two horns and a fish tail. This depiction can be traced back to Babylonia and was then taken into Greek mythology. Pan, a goat-like god, is reported to have jumped into the sea in an attempt to become a fish. However, this attempt was only partially successful, resulting in the god being half goat, half fish — a picture reflected in the sky.

Typical Capricorn Traits

Capricorns are dependable, loyal, and cooperative. Few star signs are as hardworking, organized, resilient, and dependable as this one, especially in the workplace. When others might have given up, strong-willed Capricorns persevere at nearly any cost. Capricorns, like Leos, are driven by money and prestige, though others may approach situations more quietly. For this sign does not enjoy being in the spotlight; instead, they prefer to acquire recognition via hard effort. Capricorns are deeply satisfied when they embark on a new initiative, receive a well-deserved promotion, or start a new business.

Capricorns have a strong sense of responsibility. They prefer to lead, be social, and communicate effectively. However, people born under this star sign are not noted for their warmth; they have been described as brusque, severe, and a little too direct. This is most likely owing to their high intelligence and uncompromising standards. However, because Capricorns do not place a high value on popularity, this is not a key worry. They recognize that if you desire respect, you won't be able to please everyone, and that doing so would obstruct their own progress. Capricorns are born realists and pragmatists, preferring an efficient approach. They also have an instinctive understanding of how much of life is about appearance. While other signs are easily wooed by charming Libras, Capricorns take their time deciding whether or not to trust someone – a truth that holds true both at business and in love.

Those with a sun or ascendant Capricorn are said to get along well with the independent Virgo and the seductive Scorpio. The tried-and-true Taurus is also similar in character. An Aries, on the other hand, may be too volatile and the emotional character of a Cancer may be too preoccupied with themselves to give a Capricorn the time of day. But no matter who a Capricorn teams up with, you can always rely on their friendship. Thanks to their somewhat materialistic nature, they love to show affection through gifts and financial support. And though they may not be the most empathetic of signs, their down-to-earth nature and eagerness to learn make Capricorns great conversationalists.
